The common threaded types include NPT, BSPT, and BSPP.

Metric Threaded Pipe Fittings
Thread Standard
M series (such as M10×1.5), with strong versatility, mostly used in mechanical structures or low-pressure pipelines.
Sealing Logic
Relying on the interference fit between thread teeth, raw tape/sealant is required to assist in sealing.
Pipe threaded pipe fittings (focusing on pipeline sealing)
Cylindrical pipe thread (such as G1/2)
No taper, relying on filler (raw tape, sealant) to assist in sealing, mostly used in low-pressure water / gas systems.
Tapered pipe thread (such as R external thread, Rc internal thread)
Taper 1:16, after tightening, the cone surface fits and self-seals, suitable for medium and high pressure (such as gas and steam pipelines).
American tapered pipe thread (NPT)
Taper 1:16, American standard, commonly used in oil and gas / chemical fields.
British Whitworth Threaded Pipe Fittings (BSW/BSF)
Traditional British standard, used in a small number of mechanical fields.
